Blazing weather! Blazing service"

Good morning,

Who would have thought that this close to October, it would be sun-bathing and ice cream weather?!  This glorious sunshine and warmth is set to continue over the weekend and onto Monday.

weather forecast
And yet, guess who is talking about being prepared for the winter?  The County Council is making sure now that it's much
better prepared for the eventuality of severe cold weather!

In a bid to stop the county from relying on donations from other councils in the event of a widespread big freeze like those experienced over the last two years, salt stocks here in Worcestershire are bigger than ever before.

Peter Blake, head of integrated transport at Worcestershire County Council, said: "As we go into this winter we have never had more resilience to deal with anything the winter's going to throw at us.  We have got more salt supplies than ever. We have never been more prepared."

So, come rain or shine, an Indian Summer or a severe winter, we at JGS Couriers will continue to offer you a blazing courier service across the country and Europe.

Our latest Fuel Price Report

Good afternoon,

Here at JGS Couriers, we understand the importance of saving money wherever possible.  Some of our newsletters over the last few months have demonstrated how you can reduce costs by using couriers, as well as how you yourself can drive that bit better to cut your fuel consumption.

We thought that you might find it of interest to get occasionally updated of the cost of fuel here in the UK. And so you'll find a summary of fuel prices below.

If you missed, our Fuel Saving leaflet from May, please email us and we'll send it to you.

                                      -o-

A 3p drop in wholesale fuel prices in recent months has been slowly passed on to drivers and transport companies. In fact, as you can see from the chart below, in most cases prices continue to rise.  Also volatility in the oil markets continues to cast doubt as to whether UK pump prices will show a sustained improvement.

Unleaded prices have risen by 0.1ppl from 135.6ppl to 135.7ppl. Diesel prices have risen, by 0.2ppl, from 139.7ppl to 139.9ppl.  The price difference between unleaded and diesel has risen to 4.2ppl.

Northern Ireland recorded the highest price for unleaded at 136.7ppl. Yorkshire and Humberside recorded the lowest price for unleaded at 134.9ppl. Northern Ireland also recorded the highest diesel price at 140.8ppl. Yorkshire and Humberside have the cheapest diesel at 139.0ppl.

Supermarket prices for unleaded rose by 0.5ppl to 133.5ppl. The gap between supermarket prices and the UK average for unleaded has fallen to 2.2ppl.

The Benefits of Using a Local Courier

While there are numerous courier companies across the West Midlands, there are also many that claim to be local - but are not!  Before engaging a courier company, it is best to check: it may save you money in the long run.

We believe we offer a fantastic sameday courier service, we have trust in our drivers and an extremely loyal customer base over the last 12 years.  We believe they stay with JGS as we offer them exactly what they want - outstanding service, reliability, quality vehicles, friendly helpful drivers, fast turnaround, honesty - and above all great value for money.

If you have never used a courier before and you're looking to find one, most people start by trawling Google and clicking the links of the first few they find. But beware!  Although a lot of couriers are advertising that they have an office in Worcester or offices in the West Midlands area, when you click through to their site, you are presented with a national or freephone telephone number - which diverts you to a call centre somewhere miles out of your area.

Once these companies have you booking, they will then post the job on-site that allow several couriers to bid for the job (which means they get it done for half of the price they have just charged you) and they have made a nice profit for doing hardly anything. They might never of used the company that won the bid before, they can't guarantee they will be there on time, or get an accurate ETA, or that your paperwork will be returned - and so people are let down.

We here at JGS Couriers pride ourselves on being truly local.  We have our offices in Worcester and employ drivers that have extensive knowledge of the area.  This means that should we say our driver is 10/20/30 minutes away - he really is.  We are not about to go and find someone to cover your job.

So all-in-all, contacting a local courier company in the first place should save you money, and give you a fast efficient service that will keep you returning. Contacting and hiring a courier should be a fast and simple process which should leave you feeling that you have made the right choice and ensure your delivery will make it to its destination on time.

If you're a business that has not used JGS before, we can set you up an account on your first use.  We are more than happy to give you quotations, help and advice.

So if you're looking for a courier, or want to replace your existing one - please give your local JGS office a call to discuss your requirements and see how we can help you!

Kind regards,

John
